They were whispered in villages, preserved in legends and shaped by fears surrounding death, disease and the unknown.

Then literature transformed them.

The creature that once belonged to graves and folklore entered castles, drawing rooms and Gothic novels. It became mysterious, aristocratic, seductive and immortal.

Cinema transformed it again.

The vampire became shadow and silhouette, elegance and horror, beauty and decay.

And it never disappeared.

It simply kept changing.

A Creature Reinvented for Centuries

There is no single vampire.

That may be the reason the legend has survived for so long.

In folklore, the vampire could be a disturbing corpse believed to have returned from the grave.

In Gothic literature, it could become an aristocrat hiding something monstrous behind elegance and charm.

Elsewhere, the vampire became a seductive presence, an ancient immortal, a creature of plague or a lonely outsider condemned to watch centuries pass.

Every generation has found something different in it.

Fear. Desire. Death. Power. Immortality. Isolation. Transformation.

The vampire is a monster, but it has also become a mirror.

What it represents changes depending on who is telling the story.

From Folklore to Gothic Culture

The modern image of the vampire was created gradually.

European folklore contributed stories of the returning dead and supernatural beings such as the strigoi, upiór and other regional traditions.

Nineteenth-century writers transformed these beliefs into literature.

John Polidori's The Vampyre introduced an influential aristocratic vampire in 1819.

Sheridan Le Fanu's Carmilla brought intimacy, mystery and seduction to vampire fiction.

Then Bram Stoker's Dracula, published in 1897, created a character whose influence would extend far beyond the novel itself.

And in 1922, Nosferatu gave the vampire another unforgettable form.

Count Orlok was neither romantic nor elegant.

He was strange, skeletal and deeply unsettling.

His elongated silhouette became one of the most recognisable images in the history of horror.

From there, the vampire continued evolving through film, art, music, fashion and subculture.

What began as folklore had become an entire visual language.

Why Vampires Still Fascinate Us

Perhaps vampires endure because they are built from contradictions.

They are dead, yet they walk among the living.

They can appear human while hiding something monstrous.

They possess immortality, yet immortality itself can become a curse.

They can represent extraordinary power and profound loneliness at the same time.

And unlike many monsters, they do not belong entirely to the past.

The vampire adapts.

The creature can inhabit a medieval legend, a Victorian novel, a silent film or a contemporary city and somehow remain unmistakably a vampire.

Its appearance changes.

Its meaning changes.

But the story survives.

The Visual World of Vampires

There is another reason vampires continue to inspire artists.

Their world has an extraordinary visual vocabulary.

Ancient castles.

Moonlit landscapes.

Shadows stretching across walls.

Bats disappearing into darkness.

Gothic architecture.

Victorian clothing.

Crypts and candlelight.

Fangs.

Roses.

Ravens.

Blood red against black.

Or simply a silhouette in the night.

These images have travelled far beyond vampire fiction itself. They have influenced Gothic art, cinema, photography, music and fashion.

And this is where the story begins.

We didn't want to simply put vampires on clothing.

We wanted to explore the world around them.

The collection takes inspiration from centuries of folklore, Gothic literature, cinema and vampire mythology, translating those stories into original graphic designs.

Some designs explore the darker, monstrous side of the legend.

Others draw from Gothic elegance, symbolism or the visual language created by literature and film.

Each one begins somewhere else.

With a story.

A character.

A legend.

A symbol.

A shadow.

The garment comes afterwards.

Because behind every design in the collection, there is something worth discovering.

And those stories will become part of the OZYRON Journal.

We will explore the folklore behind the vampire, the origins of Dracula, the strange history of Nosferatu, the world of Carmilla, the Romanian strigoi, vampire symbolism and the many transformations the creature has undergone throughout history.

Each story reveals another piece of the collection.

WEAR THE STORY

Fashion can be more than decoration.

What we choose to wear can say something about the worlds, ideas and stories that fascinate us.

The OZYRON Vampires Collection was created around that idea.

Not simply wear the design.

Know where it came from.

Discover the legend behind it.

Understand the symbols.

Then make the story your own.

EXPLORE THE VAMPIRES COLLECTION →

Discover the vampire legends behind the sustenable collection, from Strigoi and Moroi to Draugr, Jiangshi, Vetala and other creatures of global folklore.
Nachzehrer: The Dead Who Feed from the GraveThe story behind the designNot every vampire rises from the grave.
